Seven Wonders of the Homeschooling World…
Beverly Hernandez from About Homeschool has asked for nominations for the seven wonders of the homeschooling world.
My first thoughts ran through John Holt and Susan Wise Bauer as possibilities, but then I figured out my #1 wonder, and it’s got to be the World Wide Web.
If it wasn’t for the web, I’d be spending far more than I am on curriculum, and I’d be far more tied to a plan that may or may not fit my son.
Right now, if he’s interested in something, it takes just a little while to run through Google to find appropriate activities, print out coloring pages, create crosswords and word searches, make themed math sheets, and discover crafts and patterns related to his interest.
I can follow his lead and STILL give him a solid educational foundation. I can have my cake and eat it too.
I can’t imagine I’d have the same flexibility (and still run a business) without all the resources freely available on the Web.
So that’s the wonder that’s rocked my homeschooling world.
